Very Iconic Video Game Illustrator Greg Martin Has Passed Away

Renowned box art illustrator, who was most famous for his designs in the NES era, Greg Martin has sadly passed away. Last week, a post on the Nintendo Age forums confirmed his death, and shared a wonderful homage to his huge catalogue of work.

A former Hanna-Barbera animator, Martin first launched his career when designing for the likes of series such as The Flintstones and The Jetsons. But it was his work on video game box art that will be the most memorable to gamers and fans today.

The late illustrator created artwork for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the Adventure Island series, DuckTales 2, and both The Flintstones and The Jetsons adventures on the Nintendo Game Boy. Martin regularly produced 24-30 inch airbrushed paintings, taking a week, or less, to complete. You can see all his artwork in full, here. Which box artwork do you remember?
