A Teaser Site For Fire Emblem Fates Has Gone Live For North America

Nintendo has put up a Fire Emblem Fates page on the North America Nintendo site which you can see here. The soon to be released games will be available next month, both Fire Emblem: Fates – Conquest and Fire Emblem: Fates – Birthright. The site reconfirms that each path is a complete story and a complete game. Also don’t forget there will be a 3rd story which is a DLC that will come after launch. Here are some points about Fire Emblem Fates.

-For the first time in the Fire Emblem series, your customized avatar is the main character.

-Epic storyline centered on your avatar, forced to choose between bloodline and family who raised you.

-New “My Castle” area allows you to interact with your allies and build stronger relationships.

-Tap in corresponding compatible Fire Emblem amiibo figures and Marth, Ike, Lucina, and Robin will appear in your game, ready for you to battle and recruit.

-A third story path will be available for owners of Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright or Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest to buy digitally in-game, called Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation.

-Downloadable content (DLC) will be available, including one free map and six additional maps for purchase.

You will be able to get an $80 Fox McCloud stone Figure!!!

Well holy moly, this sure is something that’s hard to resist buying, especially if you a Starfox fan, much like myself. Apparently it will release on February 9th, which is 2 months before Starfox Zero, which is odd, but still it will cost a whopping $80 (USA), which is probably going to be $100 here in Canada. Granted I would have preferred a Wolf O’Donnell one I’d even pay $150 for it lol, but this is tempting. It appears this is a Gamestop exclusive. (I suspect EB Games will also get it) though only 5,000 will be made. So you might want to pre-order this. Also if your wondering it’s 8 inches tall. So definitely bigger then an amiibo lol. Purhaps this is Nintendo actually trying to advertise Starfox Zero? If Nintendo was smart for a change they would advertise the hell out of Starfox Zero, even half as much as Splatoon and it would be a hit!

Yacht Club Games Isn’t Done Quite Yet With Shovel Knight!

If your a fan of Shovel Knight, and it’s last free DLC, Plague Of Shadows well then hold onto your seats cause Yacht Club Games has stated they plan to finish Shovel Knight completely in 2016, which I thought it was but it most certainly isn’t. There will be 2 more DLC releases for the game, we don’t know when exactly, but there is one for a Specter Knight campaign, and King Knight campaign, aswell as a Battle Mode will be coming to the game.

Here is what they had to say,

“So the things we still have lined up – Specter Knight campaign, King Knight campaign, Battle Mode on consoles, and Gender Swap. Those are the stretch goal unlocks we’re still working on. That’s fine that some backers are okay and moving on, not keeping a hot eye on it, but there are people still following it closely.”

“I’d say our goal is to completely finish Shovel Knight in 2016! That’s what we’re hoping to do.” Yacht Club’s David D’Angelo added, “That’s the weirdest thing with the Kickstarter updates, just working on one thing for so long. The idea of starting something fresh after 2016 is almost crazy to us at this point.”

Hey everyone, it’s been ages since I was last on the site, and actually posted anything, not sure how many people still care for the site, but hey its a new year so hopefully this new, improved and revamped OBA Forums can bring the fans back! I changed a number of things on the site, including the background, header, font for articles, added Authors to the side of the page, which by the way AquaFlameBeat is an Author aswell if you didn’t know, so a tip of that hat to you AquaFlameBeat, thanks for posting when you can. The Banjo Kazooie Spiritual Successor “Project Ukulele” Is Getting A Kickstarter Also Some Screenshots!

Well now this is a pleasant surprise, Playtonic, the former Rareware devs who have gotten back together to make the spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie have given us a bit of new info aswell as some screen shots. (See above) Here is what they had to say.

“We honestly weren’t expecting as big a reaction as we got,” Price, a veteran of British studio Rare, said. “We’ve had tons and tons of emails – a massive fan response. But it’s good – we want that pressure, we’re really happy with that reception.

“Up until a few weeks ago [Kickstarter] wasn’t really on our radar, but since we’ve had such a massive response from people – we’re thinking that the game has to become a lot bigger, a lot broader, we want to do a lot more with it now to make people happy.”

“We’re still sending stupid ideas to each other, and thinking about how much to push the fact that this is a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie,” Price said, when asked about potential names. “We’re coming up with different puns… we’ll get there in the end. Apparently the name Halo 5 is taken.”

“If we needed, we could make the game with a few hundred thousand pounds, but if we can go beyond that we will scale up the game and add features as fans want from us. We could do the game comfortably on £400,000, but if we had more to spend we could, for example, hire a proper QA team rather than beta testing it.

“And as for ourselves,” Price adds, “we’re not taking the best wages in our career right now – we’ve all come down in wages and we’re in a tiny office – it’s cold in the morning and too hot in the afternoon with all the computers on. But it’s kind of how we like it – it’s reminiscent of the early days at Rare in the barn there, in this place that was never supposed to be a development studio but was just a building next to a farmhouse.”

“We’re almost starting a pre-Kickstarter Kickstarter campaign,” Price continued. “We don’t want to force tiers and stretch goals on fans, we’d love to hear if people would like to voice characters, if people want to have early access to the game, perhaps – and this is just a pipe dream – if we can have a boxed N64 copy of the game to really play off the game’s nostalgic feel. So it’s about finding out what people want from us from the Kickstarter campaign and then creating it with that in mind.

“And out of about 500 emails we receive every week, probably about 499 of them are shouting Wii U! Wii U! As a games fan, I’ve been a Nintendo fanboy since the NES days. Most of are fans are Nintendo fans as well. So while we can’t confirm what platforms we will be on – some of that is beyond our control – but we are developing on Unity and we don’t want to leave anyone out. And we’d try to ship simultaneously to make the biggest splash possible when the game comes out.”

I personally love the little Xbox jab there with “Halo 5” though it’s nice to see that basically EVERYONE is shouting Wii U at them lol. I think it’s a safe bet Wii U will get this title, not only because they are all Nintendo fans, but David Wise is part of this game, and he has strong connections with Nintendo.

Nintendo Of America President Reggie Claims “We Think Deeply About Our Product Names”

Well now this is laughable, Reggie you just straight up lied lol.

Reggie had this to say.

“We think deeply about all our product names and really try and come up with a naming convention that makes sense for the consumer that communicates what’s going on. We believe that this communicates that this is an improved version of the 3DS line.”

So tell me, why was there confusion with Wii and Wii U? And the whole 2DS, 3DS/3DSXL/New3DS/New3DSXL??? You had just said awhile ago the reason for us NOT getting the REGULAR New 3DS here in North America was it would confuse consumers to much, yet you just NOW say you do this so people don’t get confused? Reggie you are a moron.

Wave 4 Of Amiibo’s Launching Next Month In New Zealand And Australia

Alright I’m finally back to posting SOME news on the OBAForums, apologies for not posting news in a hundred years.

Anyway, It seems Wave 4 of the Smash Bros Amiibo’s is starting to make it’s way out there, for pre-orders anyway. We still can’t pre-order them yet in North America, but I suspect it wont be much longer, probably around the time Mario Party 10 and the Super Mario Bros Amiibo’s launch. By then we should be able to pre-order them. According to the Twitter post they will be available April 25th, which was the rumored release date anyway.

Sharp Is Apparently Set To Provide Nintendo With Free-Form Display For Nintendo’s Next Handheld Console

A Japanese news publication called Sankei Biz is reporting that they will be providing Nintendo with a free-form display for their next handheld. Sharp already makes the 3D screens for the Nintendo 3DS so it makes sense that they would use them again. Production of the screens will start in 2016 and Nintendo is currently experimenting with some sort of donut-shaped display. Whether this is for the successor to the Nintendo 3DS or it could be one of Nintendo’s Quality of Life products but we don’t know yet, but it wont arrive until late 2016 or 2017.

Developer WayForward Explains Why They Continue To Support Nintendo And The Wii U

The developer WayForward has explained why they continue to support Nintendo and the Wii U. Although they no longer makes games exclusively for Nintendo platforms, the Shantae developer attributes its success to longtime Nintendo fans. The studio is currently working on the Wii U version of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, which is set to launch on December 25th via the Nintendo eShop. The game made its debut earlier this year on Nintendo 3DS. WayForward has another project in the works, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, which is also heading to Wii U. Here is what they had to say.

“We’ve been there supporting Nintendo with every system launch starting with the Game Boy Color,” said WayForward creative director Matt Bozon. “We want to be first in line to make games for these legendary platforms. Whether they reach a massive audience or not, Nintendo fans occupy an extremely loyal corner of the game industry. They like intelligent design and visually iconic characters, and they typically understand that games of high quality take time. Sure, we want our games to appear everywhere and be played by everyone, but I feel we have a real connection with Nintendo and its fans.

“We’re working to expand our fan base, but Nintendo fans got us here which is why we go the extra mile to serve them when we can.”

You hear that Ubisoft? That’s the way a dev SHOULD treat Nintendo and their fans.
